Brixton Project

Based at Brixton's Baytree Centre, EYES WIDE OPEN's current project was a 12 weeks which aimed to introduce students to the possibilities of photography. Participants were drawn from years 10 and 11 at local schools and participated in groups discussions, gallery visits and practical workshops.

The course encouraged students to consider the powerful role that photographs play in contemporary society emphasises the importance of actively looking at, and analysing the meaning if images. The skills they had learned then allowed them to develop a body work which expresses and communicates their own particular points of view. There individual projects culminated in a public exhibition.
