Word Portraits. Volunteers in St Joseph's Hospice

In an effort to acknowledge the importance of the work of volunteers in St Joseph's Hospice in Hackney, London, we published a book containing photographs of the volunteers as well as their inspiring stories, illustrating the difference that their every day actions make.

Four volunteers took part in this project; photographing and interviewing the subjects and then collating the material into a book to be given to the volunteers, kept in the library at St Joseph's Hospice and distributed to potential interested parties.

We also had a presentation of the book to which everyone who was involved in the project (volunteers, patients, hospice staff...) was invited. The book aimed to be a source of inspiration to others, and encouraged active volunteering.
